Listen - Is It A Cry For Help?
Calm down and listen to your teen. It does no good if your temper is high and there is too much tension. Step away and come back when both you and your child are ready to communicate. Keep in mind that your teen is on the defensive and you'll need to break down a few walls before you can get through.

Identify the Triggers
Being able to identify what the problem is one thing. Identifying the cause or trigger is even more difficult. Mostly because it's hidden from your eyes and your teen only reacts when you may not even be around. Something at school, the playground, or a combination of multiple things. Adolescence is about finding ones identity and place in life.

Replace The Bad With Good
While trying to find what is triggering bad behavior, you'll also need to come up with a replacement at the same time. If you don't, your teen will simply fall back into the same routine and it will be even harder to get through, because your teen feels that there isn't an option so why change.
